Isn’t it funny when you think of the reasons why you have certain meals or honor certain occasions that you are quite certain no one else does? Pearl harbor Day is just one of those occasions for us. We have talked about this horrible event many times over the years, and why it was so important for our country. We want our children to know the importance and impact of such things in our history.
Maybe it was because my Great-Uncle Murray was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. Or, maybe it is because my husband was stationed at Pearl when he was in the Navy, and our oldest daughter was born there.
No matter the reason there is always an occasion for good food.
2) Add the onions, water, Sake, soy sauce and ginger, bringing it to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered until the meat is tender (takes about two hours).
3) Strain the juices off and skim the fat. Served the juices with the sliced pork roast over steamed rice.
