When Samantha initially planned her wedding reception she wanted nothing but her favorite sweets for a buffet, but knowing there were several diabetics in the family we decided that wasn’t the best idea. We did incorporate three of her favorite holiday sweets though: fudge, peanut butter cups and her absolute favorite holiday treat; peppermint bark.
In the past I have used a combination of milk and white chocolates melted and poured over wax paper to make my peppermint bark. I would sprinkle the top with broken peppermint pieces and then break the bark into large pieces to serve.
While this works well for gift to neighbors and serving at parties, I just didn’t like the look of it for a wedding.
So I got to playing around with my ingredients and came up with this….
Sweet little Peppermint Bark hearts.
These are so easy to make. All you need in a couple of small boxes of miniature candy canes, a bag of white chocolate candy melts and wax paper.
That’s it.

I had to use a big container of candy canes, but I was also working to serve 150 reception guests. The only downside to this little project is unwrapping the candy canes.
To assemble the peppermint bark, roll out your wax paper on a flat surface. Arrange two candy canes so that the “face” each other to form a heart.
Then fill each heart with melted white chocolate. I filled plastic bottles (by Wilton… you can find them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby) with the melted candy to squeeze into each heart. You can also use a ziploc bag with just the corner cut off to allow the melted chocolate to flow.
That’s it, easy peasy.
And the result is just too sweet and romantic peppermint bark hearts.
I served them up on a bed of coconut flakes (to look like snow) and fit into the winter wonderland theme Samantha had for her wedding.
